The City of Minburn, Iowa is now accepting applications for a Public Works part-time position.
The ideal candidate is someone who can work regular, daytime hours. Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills are a necessity. The right person for this job will be able to assess the needs of the city; perform general, light maintenance duties; hire and supervise contracted labor where needed;and plan and set budget with the City Clerk. Coordinate special projects/events that require extra labor or expertise. The part-time public works manager will be responsible for finding, hiring and managing contracted labor or volunteers. Examples of work that will be hired out are lawn care, snow removal, projects requiring heavy equipment or expert repair. The public works manager will be responsible for maintaining parts and supplies for operations, projects, and repairs. Experience in the following is preferred- all aspects of managing a municipal public works department, including but not limited to; water and sewer operations, streets, grounds, equipment, buildings/facilities, snow plowing, mowing and maintenance of City facilities. Willing to train the right candidate for the position. Must possess high school diploma or GED. Post offer physical, drug, and background screens are required. Some weekend/holiday work is required as well.
