The Minburn Community Betterment Group (MCBG) is a nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Iowa. Our mission is to improve the Minburn community and the life of its citizens, while preserving the history and culture of it's past.
More about us.
The City of Minburn was founded in 1869 and has a rich history as a railroad town. The town itself currently has just over 400 residents, but draws people from surrounding areas to be a part of Minburn through the church, school, library, Independence Day and skating/concert events.
The Minburn Community Betterment Group was established in 2007 to help improve the Minburn community and the life of its citizens, while preserving its history and heritage. Our community group, non-profit organizations and city officials continue their partnership to showcase Minburn as a "Small Town with a Big Heart."
"Meet Me in Minburn" is a series of free concerts, in its third season in 2010. MCBG arranges the concert series in conjunction with local non-profit groups that provide meals and refreshments prior to the concerts for a free will donation. Our goal is to present an accessible venue and appealing talent, to encourage residents to get acquainted and to provide a variety of affordable entertainment to a wide sector of the community. MCBG accepts donations at the concerts, but most of the funding comes from Bock Family Foundation and local business sponsorship.
